The second of four sessions offered as part of the Advocacy Leaders Network, a workshop series tailored to senior advocacy, government affairs, and public relations professionals. This session focuses on ways to get the most out of your fly-ins by assessing best run lobby day efforts, reviewing new techniques, and discussing ways to leverage your stakeholders' efforts and gather valuable content for quality advocacy messaging. This series is part of CMF’s Partnership for a More Perfect Union, which seeks to enhance communications, understanding, and the relationship between citizens and Congress.
Lobby Days are undoubtedly stressful events—for organizers it can sometimes be akin to managing a three ring circus. They require a lot of advance work in a short amount of time, plus intensive day-of management, and after-action follow-up efforts that can sometimes get missed.
But we go through this process every year (for some of us, even more often than that) because lobby days are a real opportunity to connect stakeholders directly with their Members of Congress. Our best advocates are on show but are they really delivering our best message.
This Advocacy Leaders Network event will help you get the most out of your fly-ins by:
- assessing some of the best run, and most well-received lobby day efforts;
- reviewing new techniques that can assist the process to run smoother;
- discussing new ways to leverage our stakeholders’ efforts during the lobby day;
- and discussing how to gather valuable content that can be later reworked into high quality advocacy messaging.
