Join Us March 9 for Next Advocacy Leaders Network Workshop

Mapping Your Political and Economic Footprint: Identifying Advocacy Assets and the Art of Modern Story Telling,” is the second of four sessions offered as part of the Advocacy Leaders Network, a new workshop series tailored to senior advocacy, government affairs, and public relations professionals. ALN is hosted by the Congressional Management Foundation, as part of its Partnership for a More Perfect Union, which seeks to enhance communications, understanding, and the relationship between citizens and Congress, and is sponsored by Beekeeper Group, Bloomberg Government, and Verizon.

Program Details

In demonstrating your economic and political footprint to a legislator or staff, nothing is more important than understanding the assets in your network. You may have gold among your members, supporters, and employees – but don’t know it because you’re not aware of the valuable relationships they may possess. Or, your organization may have thousands of supporters, or significant financial investments in states and congressional districts, but have never mapped this influence.

Tie this information to compelling stories of the impact of a policy on citizens – delivered through creative platforms – and you’ve created a formula enhancing your organization’s story to lawmakers. And this isn’t just important to you — lawmakers and staff desperately need this kind of quantitative and qualitative data to make informed policy decisions.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What are the available methods for organizations to create an “asset map”
  • How do lawmakers integrate this information into their decision-making process
  • What is modern storytelling and what methods are available to tell your story in a new and compelling way
  • How can organizations leverage social media to perfect the art of modern storytelling.
