Join Us June 15 for Next Advocacy Leaders Network Workshop

"Getting Cats and Dogs to Play Nice in the Office: Integrating Your Lobbying and Grassroots Operations," is the third of four sessions offered as part of the Advocacy Leaders Network, a new workshop series tailored to senior advocacy, government affairs, and public relations professionals. ALN is hosted by the Congressional Management Foundation, as part of its Partnership for a More Perfect Union, which seeks to enhance communications, understanding, and the relationship between citizens and Congress, and is sponsored by Beekeeper Group, Bloomberg Government, and Verizon.

Program Details

Congressional offices report that they are sometimes frustrated by the lack of coordination between grassroots and government relations operations within organizations interacting with Congress. It seems as if the left and right hand of associations, nonprofits and corporations engaging in advocacy are not completely in sync (or even in the same room). If the grassroots advocate isn't singing off of the same hymnal as a lobbyist – pardon the phrase – all hell can break loose.

Coordination in messaging and strategy not only helps professional advocates, it enhances the connection between citizens and their elected officials. This program is designed for advocacy professionals in BOTH sides of the office to learn the value and benefits of a coordinated message. Participants in this program will:

  • Hear from experts who have successfully integrated grassroots and government relations campaigns.
  • Receive guidance on how to address internal challenges to ensure their external communications advance their goals.
  • Understand how congressional staff see grassroots and lobbyist messages when they are in sync ... and when they're not.
