Senate Budget Committee Listening to the Public

New Senate Budget Committee Chair Patty Murray recently announced the launch of “MyBudget,” the committee’s new online effort to encourage members of the public to participate in the federal budget process. This new online tool allows the public to share their stories, budget priorities, and ideas with the committee as it writes a budget.

Murray, concerned about a budget process that is too often limited to bureaucrats and politicians, believes, “that it is absolutely critical that the ideas and perspectives of families across America are heard loud and clear in a budget process that belongs to them, but is too often limited to politicians and bureaucrats."

To aid in this ever-transparent process we have provided the following links to MyBudget:

Share your story

What are your budget priorities?

Tell us your ideas

Each of these links allows you to communicate to the Senate Budget Committee your personal experiences, budget priorities, and ideas that will help the Senate better gauge how their actions will affect the public, set priorities, and implement new ways of thinking.

Through our work evaluating congressional websites for Gold Mouse Awards, CMF knows it can be difficult for committees to find ways to interact with their audiences. We applaud Senator Murray’s launch of “MyBudget” and look forward to seeing what types of reactions and input the Budget committee receives from the public.
