As media sound bites proliferate and partisan rancor accelerates, it is the Chiefs who have an opportunity to overcome turf issues, forge alliances, and create stronger partnerships to fuel better policy.

In this dynamic training – which has been among the highest rated content CMF has ever shared – Chiefs will learn research-based, field-tested skills to:

  • BUILD agreement, coalition, and support from divergent positions.
  • AVOID pitfalls, which polarize and torpedo creative thinking.
  • CREATE a meeting climate free from personal attack, wheel spinning, and negativity.
  • FACILITATE meetings that generate involvement from everyone.
  • IMPLEMENT a model that keeps comments both brief and persuasive.
  • BALANCE input from the dominating and quiet people.

For the last 36 years, the research and consulting of Drs. Susan and Peter Glaser have been moving organizations toward a more collaborative culture, where differences of opinion lead to better decisions – not just endless arguing. They have surfaced the primary ingredients which fuel successful dialogue, deliberative discourse, thoughtful engagement, and creative problem-solving.

Active consultants since 1975, their work has taken them around the world working with leaders from Fortune 500 companies, and federal, state and local govenrment leaders. The Congressional Management Foundation has been proud to work with the Glasers since 2005. Their presentations have been rated an all-time CMF high.

This program is open to:

  • House Chiefs of Staff
  • House Deputy Chiefs of Staff
  • House Committee/Subcommittee Directors
