Communicating with Congress
For the past 10 years, the Congressional Management Foundation has been tracking the opinions and practices related to constituent communications on Capitol Hill. Congressional staff answered identical questions in three surveys CMF conducted in the past decade. This first-of-its-kind research will show the latest survey from late 2015, compare it to the 2005 and 2010 surveys, and looks at how trends and perceptions have (or have not) changed in Congress.

While constituent expectations and technology have significantly changed in the past few decades, the procedures, metrics, and workflows in congressional offices have not. Answering incoming constituent mail is still important, but it should be considered part of a Constituent Engagement Strategy that every office considers and adopts. CMF's report, "Building Trust by Modernizing Constituent Engagement," is designed to help offices better understand why and how to do this.
