Upcoming Event: Feb. 4 Workshop on Leadership & Emotional Intelligence

Program Overview

How do you react under stress? Do you really know how your team views your leadership? Are there times when you are your own worst enemy and don't even realize it? As recent news cycles have shown us, the actions of team leaders, and the way those actions are perceived, have real impacts on how staff perform.

Participants in this workshop, presented in conjunction with the House Chiefs of Staff Association (HCOSA), will learn what makes up emotional intelligence (EQ) and how use it to lead a team more successfully.

Instructor Tracy Carmen-Jones will explore how the various components of EQ guide your conversation, behaviors and decisions. Using an assessment tool, each participant will discover behaviors that are likely to appear when you face challenging situations that can sabotage team dynamics and outcomes. We'll explore how the behaviors can benefit (or harm) team dynamics, as well as how to use the awareness for success.

In this interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Learn what Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is, and the advantages of managing it effectively;
  • Identify when emotions may run wild and learn how to harness them;
  • Ascertain internal pressures that can block EQ; and
  • Design a personal TAKE ACTION roadmap to boost EQ (to make you a better manager).
