WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) has received two multi-year grants to support its ongoing work and to encourage innovation in Congress.

"These foundations have realized that democratic transformation will not happen unless Congress is actively engaged in the process," says Bradford Fitch, CMF's President & CEO. "CMF is one of the few organizations that works directly with Congress to study and support its management and operations, which positions us well to help transfer—and translate—good ideas to Capitol Hill."

Democracy Fund will provide $400,000 over two years to support CMF's efforts to help House and Senate offices transform their operations to better meet the needs and expectations of an Information Age citizenry. Through the project—named "Congress 3.0"—CMF will work with a small group of House and Senate offices to experiment with and study a range of enhanced practices. CMF will develop a free toolkit for all House and Senate offices which provides guidance on using technology to facilitate improved operations and constituent engagement.

Through its Madison Initiative, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation will provide CMF with $450,000 in general operating support over three years to meet its overall mission.

Founded in 1977, CMF is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to helping Congress and its Members meet the evolving needs and expectations of an engaged and informed citizenry. Its work focuses on improving congressional operations and enhancing citizen engagement through research, publications, training, and management services.
