WASHINGTON, D.C., June 17, 2018 – The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) today announced that Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD) are the recipients of CMF's inaugural Democracy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement category of the Democracy Awards recognizes Members and staff who have had made significant, positive impacts on the management and operations of the institution of Congress during their careers.

"Both of these men have exemplified a life of public service", said Bradford Fitch, President and CEO of CMF. "We're proud to highlight their accomplishments and to show the American public how hard Congress works on its behalf."

Winners will be honored at a ceremony on July 13, where CMF will also honor Members of Congress and staff who are finalists and winners in four office categories: Constituent Service, "Life in Congress" Workplace Environment, Transparency and Accountability, and Innovation.

The Founding Partner for the Democracy Awards is the Bridge Alliance, which provided a generous grant to launch the program. Bridge Alliance is a diverse coalition of more than 80 organizations committed to revitalizing democratic practice in America.
