McCain, Dingell Honored with Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Awards by the Congressional Management Foundation

"It's impossible to understate the influence of these two individuals in our democracy," said Bradford Fitch, President and CEO of the Congressional Management Foundation. "Beyond their legislative achievements, John Dingell and John McCain distinguished themselves as defenders of the institution of Congress, advocates for the value of democratic processes, and truly understood that mastering the art of compromise does not mean shedding one's faith in principle. The Congressional Management Foundation is proud to posthumously bestow this award on these two great Americans."

The Lifetime Achievement category recognizes two Members of Congress and one congressional staffer who have made significant, positive impacts on the management and operations of the institution of Congress during their careers.

With almost a century of public service between them, Sen. McCain and Rep. Dingell inspired generations of legislators and Americans alike with their service to the country and to Congress. Rep. Dingell passed away in February following a fight with prostate cancer, and Sen. McCain passed away last year after a battle with brain cancer.
